Travel to Hue and explore the Citadel, and continue to the peaceful beautifully preserved streets of old Hoi An. Visit the busy avenues of Ho Chi Minh and see examples of French classical architecture. Visit some of the major historic sites of the Vietnam War, such as the Reunification Palace, Cu Chi Tunnels. This tour will also allow you to experience a taste of river life as you explore the Mekong Delta.

DAY 1: HA NOI ARRIVAL  (NO MEAL) 

Arrive at Noi Bai International Airport, welcome by our guide, and transfer to your hotel. The driving time is approximately 40 minutes.

Afternoon, take a Cyclo tour through Hanoi’s downtown to sightsee the Old Quarter of 36 ancient streets, the Trang Tien Plaza shopping center, the colonial French-built Opera House, an elegant architectural landmark of Hanoi modeled after the Palais Garnier opera house in Paris, and visit, Hoan Kiem Lake (The Returned Sword Lake whose name comes from a legend of a sacred sword) at sunset. DAY 2: HA NOI – HA LONG - UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE (B)

Morning, take a half-day city tour to visit Ho Chi Minh Complex which features the life of Ho Chi Minh, the nation’s founder. You’ll start at Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where the nation’s founder’s body is preserved (closed on Monday, Friday, and through October - November), the colonial Presidential Palace, originally the French Governor Office and a fine example of French architecture in Hanoi, and the rural style Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked. Stop by one of Hanoi’s icons, the One Pillar Pagoda, built in the 11th Century in dedication to Buddha of Compassion and reminiscent of a lotus blossom rising from a pond. Continue to the Temple of Literature, known as the first university of Vietnam built in 1070 by the Ly Dynasty to honor Confucius, sages, and outstanding Vietnamese scholars.

In the afternoon, transfer to Ha Long Bay, about 160 km away. The driving time is approximately 3 hours. On the way, you will see some rural areas of the Red River Delta, where you will have plenty of chances to take photos of Vietnamese farmers working in paddy fields. Stop halfway to visit a handicraft workshop of fine clothes and embroidered paintings. Arrive in Ha Long City in the late afternoon Check in the hotel then spend time at leisure.  DAY 3: HA LONG - HA NOI – DANANG – HOI AN  (B )

Morning, breakfast at the hotel between 6-7 AM, transfer to the dock for boarding a cruise boat to explore the legendary Ha Long Bay. Ha Long means Descending Dragon in Vietnamese as legend has it that a holly dragon landed down here from the sky.

The bay, famous as one of the world’s wonders and heritage sites whose formation dates back 500 million years, consists of around 2,000 karst islands and islets scattered over an area of 1,553 km2. The boat will stop at Dau Go Island for you to visit Thien Cung Cave (Heaven Palace) and Dau Go Cave (Wooden Stakes). Dau Go Cave in the 13th Century was a depot to store pointed wooden stakes, which later were used by Vietnamese great military commander Tran Hung Dao to trap and puncture Mongolian naval boats in the famous battles of Bach Dang. Continue cruising while fresh seafood lunch is served on board. Return to the dock, disembark, and travel back to Hanoi.

Free at leisure until meet our guide then transfer to the airport for a flight to Da Nang. Flight time is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Meet our guide & driver then transfer to the hotel in Hoi An for check-in. The driving time is approximately 40 minutes. Overnight at a hotel in Hoi An.

DAY 4: HOI AN FULL DAY ANCIENT TOWN (B)

Morning, city tour to discover the charm of Hoi  An as a renowned World Heritage Site. Once a bustling maritime commercial port of Asia between the 15th and 19th centuries, Hoi An is now a peaceful town of exceptionally well-preserved architecture, lifestyles, and traditions. After receiving a brief introduction to the history, shape, and color of traditional lanterns, start a walking tour around the town to see its highlight sightseeing including the town’s iconic 400-year-old Covered Bridge with a small temple attached to one side as a prominent example of Japanese architecture, the Museum of Trade Ceramics which is an elegant Vietnamese style wooden house built in 1858 showcasing antique ceramic artifacts, the 200-year-old Tan Ky House typifying an ancient Chinese merchant residence, the Ong Temple built in 1653 by Chinese settlers to worship Guan Yu, an ancient Chinese general whose character stands for loyalty, bravery and justice and the local market vibrant with colors and activities.

Afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Thu Bon River to enjoy the countryside landscapes and land in Kim Bong village where carpentry has been practiced since the 16th Century as the village’s trademark to visit some old-fashioned boatyards using timber as the main material. Afterward, moved on to Thanh Ha village to see its traditional ceramic production trade still alive and thriving despite the 500-year passage of time. Return to hotel. Overnight at a hotel in Hoi An.

Note: Hoi An is famous for speedily tailor-made clothes with 4 to 24 hours for tourists.

DAY 5: HOI AN – DANANG –HO CHI MINH  (B)

Morning, free at leisure until transfer to Da Nang airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

Flight time is approximately 1.5 hours. Arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, welcome by our guide, and transfer to your hotel. The driving time is approximately 30 minutes.

Afternoon, take a city tour to visit the War Remnants Museum which features a comprehensive collection of the machinery, weapons, photos, and documentation of Vietnam War with both the French and Americans, and the Reunification Palace which was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until end of April 1975. Last, stop for shopping at the French-built Ben Thanh Market which dates back to 1870 and whose main entrance clock tower has become a city’s symbol. Overnight at a hotel in Ho Chi Minh.

DAY 6: HOCHIMINH – CITY TOUR – CUCHI TUNNELS (B)

Morning, take a half-day tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels, 75 km Northwest of downtown Ho Chi Minh City, which were once a major underground hideout and resistance base of Viet Cong forces during the two wars against the French and later on Americans.  The tunnels, entirely hand-dug, formed a highly intricate network of interlinked multilevel passageways at times stretched as far as the Cambodian border and totaled over 120 km in length. Its complexity was beyond imagination containing meeting rooms, kitchens, wells, clinics, schools, depots, trenches, and emergency exits all aimed for guerrilla warfare. The tunnels were deep, and strong enough to withstand destructive bombings and self-contained enough to outlast prolonged sieges. Back to Ho Chi Minh City and spend time at leisure.

Afternoon, take a city tour to visit the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica a neo-Roman cathedral built by the colonial French with materials entirely imported from Marseilles, the Saigon Central Post Office, which was designed and constructed in the early 20th Century by the famous French architect Gustave Eiffel, Cho Lon area or the city’s China Town and the Jade Emperor Temple (Phuoc Hai), a rare Taoist structure in Vietnam built by the Cantonese community in the area in 1909. DAY 7: HOCHIMINH – MYTHO (MEKONG DELTA) (B)

Morning, after breakfast, travel by road to the Mekong Delta, the world’s largest delta and Vietnam’s largest rice bowl. On arrival in My Tho City, capital of Tieng Giang Provine, embark on a boat and navigate through intricate canals while observing the local daily life up close as well as the landscape of waterways and lush islands. Land on the Unicorn Island to enjoy wandering through verdant orchards, tasting fresh fruits, and listening to some Southern-style traditional music. Move on to the second delta province, Ben Tre, where you will watch local villagers make coconut candy in a rural workshop, walk around briefly, and try riding a horse-pulled carriage. More cruising to some bee-keeping households to taste fresh homegrown honey and honey tea. Go back to Ho Chi Minh City and spend time at leisure. Overnight at a hotel in Ho Chi Minh.

DAY 8: HO CHI MINH DEPARTURE (B)

Meet our guide & driver at the hotel lobby then transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for the flight.
